BioTector System-C Online TOC Analyzer was developed to meet the needs of a specific market segment - Clean Water Applications.
Some features of the existing BioTector series are not required in these applications eg. particulate handling and the ability to manage Fats, Oils and Greases. But customers with clean water applications still want the reassuring quality of a BioTector Analyzer. So, in response to their feedback, we developed the System-C Online TOC Analyzer.
BioTector System-C for clean water applications will give you process insights, process incident alerts, environmental monitoring, energy optimisation, product loss prevention, water loss prevention, boiler protection and plant protection.
And it comes with the award-winning performance that you expect from the BioTector patented Two-Stage Advanced Oxidation technology (TSAO).

TOC Online Analyser
General Information
Designed to withstand corrosive environments, the BioTector TOC Analyzer is housed in an FRP enclosure with dual compartments to keep all electronic components separate from the “wet” or analysis section. The BioTector TOC Analyzer has an in-built microcontroller and is operated through a membrane keypad. An SD Falsh Card allows easy software & configuration updates and may be used to download the 5,000 event archive.

TOC-TN Total Nitrogen Online Analyser
The TN, or Total Nitrogen, Analyzer is an additional analysis tool available from BioTector Analytical Systems. When the BioTector oxidizes organic carbon compounds (for TOC measurement) it also oxidizes bound (organic and inorganic) nitrogen compounds and ammonium compounds into nitrate (NO3-). This nitrate is present as an aqueous ion in the oxidized sample fluid in the BioTector reactor.
When TOC analysis is complete, the sample fluid is brought from the reactor into a measuring cell. Here the spectrophotometer analyzes the wavelengths applicable to nitrates. The result is displayed as Total Nitrogen (TN). A cleaning fluid is then passed through the measuring cell automatically, which ensures that operator cleaning and maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum.

TOC-TP Total Phosphorus Online Analyser
The TP, or Total Phosphorous, Analyzer is an additional analysis tool available from BioTector Analytical Systems. When the BioTector oxidizes organic carbon compounds for TOC measurement, it also reduces phosphorus compounds (with the exception of poly-phosphates) to orthophosphates (PO4-). This phosphate is present as an ion in the oxidized sample fluid in the BioTector reactor
OOP Measurement
When both TOC and TN analysis are complete, the sample fluid is reacted with a Vanadate-Molybdate reagent at 70°C to produce an acidic compound. The spectrophotometer then analyzes this sample at the wavelengths applicable to ortho-phosphates. The result is displayed as Oxidized and Ortho-Phosphorus (OOP). For applications without any polyphosphates, the OOP is equal to TP.
TP Measurement
For applications with significant polyphosphate concentrations a further step is required to arrive at the TP result. The sample fluid undergoes an acid boiling at 100°C for 20 minutes, breaking down the polyphosphate bonds into ortho-phosphates. The result is displayed as Total Phosphorus (TP), which is measured using the procedure described above for OOP Analysis.

General Information
The BioTector vacuum sampling system is designed to bring water over a distance of 40 meters with a maximum lift of 6 meters, and to present the sample to the BioTector TOC analyzer, or alternative water analyzer, at ambient pressure.
Functions
- The vacuum sampler pump generates a vacuum in the sample container which draws the sample up into the sample container.
- A built-in conductivity probe confirms that the sample has filled the container. The vacuum pump is stopped, a pinch valve closes to seal the sample in the container and vacuum valves open to restore the pressure in the sample container to ambient. If the sample does not make contact with the conductivity probe within a pre-set time, a fault condition is triggered.
- The analyzer takes a sample from the container. If necessary, a short sedimentation period (to allow sand and hard particles to settle) may be programmed before the analyzer takes its sample.
- When the sample has been taken, the pinch valve opens. The vacuum pump, through a series of valves, generates pressure in the sample container, which forces the sample from the container back through the sample line.
- The cycle then repeats.
